Whale Sounds on a Canvas II Art Show Opening Reception
Join me for this Special Event and Make Waves
Location: Usher Gallery 1 Petaluma Blvd N, Petaluma, CA 94952
This collection continues This collection is the continuation of my first show, Whale Sounds on a Canvas I. While the original exhibition translated whale vocalizations into abstract soundscapes, this new body of work goes deeper—focusing on the depictions of whale species themselves. From the majesty of humpbacks to the intimacy of mothers and calves, each piece explores the beauty, individuality, and cultural importance of these ocean giants.

Featured Atrwork from the show
Sperm Whale Hunting Squid in the Abyss
Inspired by the findings of a study on sperm whales in the Gulf of California, the artwork reflects the dramatic decline in sperm whale populations due to the collapse of jumbo squid stocks. Once numbering a "super population" of 354 individuals between 2009 and 2015, sperm whales vanished from the region entirely between 2016 and 2018.
Serenity Below - Watching a Humpback
This artwork pays tribute to Fran, the beloved humpback whale tragically lost to a ship strike in 2022. Fran, born in 2005 and celebrated as California’s most recognized humpback whale with 277 sightings recorded in the Happywhale database, was a frequent visitor to the Monterey Bay Area and a symbol of marine wonder.
